The Green Bay Packers are going to have a busy 24 hours.
Green Bay -- like every other National Football League franchise -- has to cut down its roster to 53 players ahead of the deadline on Tuesday. The Packers will make a handful of moves and NFL Trade Rumors' Logan Ulrich suggested that cornerback Corey Ballentine could end up being on the trade block.
"(New Orleans Saints) CB Marshon Lattimore, (Washington Commanders) CB Emmanuel Forbes, (Houston Texans) CB Jeff Okudah or C.J. Henderson or Desmond King or Myles Bryant, Titans CB Caleb Farley (and) Packers CB Corey Ballentine," Ulrich said. "Green Bay’s cornerback group has a lot of players vying for roles who got exposure last year due to injuries, and there’s probably not room for everyone. Ballentine did well enough that he could merit trade consideration."
Ballentine is entering his sixth National Football League season and has spent the last two in Green Bay. He appeared in 22 games over the last two seasons and started six games. He logged one interception and 48 total tackles over the last two seasons.
It's unclear what the Packers will end up doing, but Ballentine is someone to keep an eye on over the next 24 hours. Green Bay has to trim the roster down to 53 players because the 2024 National Football League regular season now is under two weeks away.
There's a lot to like about the Packers, but they will have to make some tough decisions before real football games kick-off.
