The Green Bay Packers dropped to 2-2 on Sunday following a 31-29 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Despite falling two games back in the NFC North, some very positive news came from the game. Packers quarterback Jordan Love returned from his MCL injury and played great.
Love threw for 389 yards and four touchdowns, nearly pulling off a miraculous comeback.
Afterward, former Packers quarterback Brett Favre took to social media with a heartfelt sentiment for the current signal caller.
"Dear Jordan:
Just a reminder that one game, one play, or one pass doesn’t define you," Favre wrote. "Way to show resilience today. You have a long career ahead. Just keep going forward."
Resilience is an accurate way to describe Love's performance.
The Packers found themselves trailing 28-0 at home late in the second quarter. They easily could have packed up and moved on to planning for Week 5 vs. the Los Angeles Rams. Instead, they battled back and were within an onside kick of potentially pulling off the largest comeback in franchise history.
Green Bay appears to have done it again. They drafted a franchise quarterback who should be taking snaps at Lambeau Field for a very long time.
Favre began his Packers career in 1992 and was at the helm for 16 years. He was then replaced by Aaron Rodgers, who sat behind him for a couple of seasons. Rodgers was QB1 for 15 years in Green Bay, with Love waiting for his chance.
Thus far, the 25-year-old is making good on that chance.
Green Bay has an uphill climb if they want to win the division. If Sunday is any indication, though, Love and this team has the resilience to make that happen.
