Has Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams already played his final game with the team?
Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce may have sent a signal on Monday when he liked an Instagram post where NFL writer Michael Fabiano said Adams “has already played his last snap” in Las Vegas.
Pierce has since removed his like on the post, but the indication is that the Raiders are ready to move on from the six-time Pro Bowler.
Fabiano also reported Las Vegas may be holding him out, Adams missed Week 4 with a hamstring injury to complete a trade. "Some of my little birds out there are suggesting to me that there is a chance that he doesn't play another down for the Raiders," Fabiano said. "(My sources say that) he could have played yesterday, but the Raiders are looking to deal him because they know that they could get some value for him, and they know they are going nowhere this year."
Potential suitors include the Kansas City Chiefs, who may have lost top receiver Rashee Rice for the season, and the New York Jets, which would reunite Adams with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers and Adams were among the most lethal tandems in the NFL during their eight seasons together on the Green Bay Packers. From 2014-21, Adams averaged 84 receptions for 1,015 yards and nine touchdowns per season, appeared in five Pro Bowls, and was named All-Pro twice.
The Chiefs are considered a long shot, with questions about whether the Raiders would send a star player to a rivalry that dates back to the American Football League. Adams would give Patrick Mahomes something he hasn’t had in Kansas City, a true number one.
In three games this season, Adams has 18 receptions for 209 yards and one touchdown. In 37 games with the Raiders, he’s posted 221 catches for 2,869 yards and 23 touchdowns. Davante Adams is under contract through 2026, though he does have a potential “out” at the end of this season.
