There could be some star power on the move this season.
The 2024 National Football League season is just under two weeks away. It's going to be a busy few days with teams cutting down rosters to 53 players before the Tuesday deadline. The Green Bay Packers certainly will be active.
There could be some trades coming over the next few days and it's never too early to discuss players who possibly could be moved during the season.
ESPN's Bill Barnwell put together a list of players who could be moved this season and mentioned former Packers superstar Davante Adams.
"Financial obligation: $17.4 million in 2024," Barnwell said. "Why: The Raiders don't need a 31-year-old wide receiver if they're out of contention. Much depends on what happens over the next few weeks. If the Raiders get off to a hot start after their solid finish to 2023, they'll hold on to Adams. With five of their first eight games against 2023 playoff teams, however, things are going to be difficult. And while they rarely seem to do the smart or proactive thing when it comes to roster construction, if they're 2-6 or 3-5 after that stretch, they'd have to give serious thought to trading Adams at the deadline, given that his contract jumps north of $36 million (unguaranteed) next season."
Adams still is one of the best receivers in football, but the Raiders are in an interesting spot. Las Vegas will be starting Gardner Minshew at quarterback and should take a step forward in 2024. Despite this, Adams has been mentioned as a trade candidate numerous times throughout the summer. If Las Vegas struggles out of the gate, don't be surprised if he gets moved.
