The Detroit Lions got quite the injury scare in Week 3 after seeing tight end Sam LaPorta exit with an ankle injury before being carted to the locker room.
As the sky felt like it was falling, it wasn't long before LaPorta emerged from the locker room and got back into the game. He did exit briefly a few snaps later but ultimately returned again to finish out the contest.
While that's all well and good, LaPorta's status is up in the air ahead of the team's Week 4 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night. Keep up to date with all the latest on LaPorta's injured ankle with our tracker below.

According to Tim Twenytman of DetroitLions.com, LaPorta was back at practice on Friday and "looked pretty good running around" during the session. We'll see what his participation level was when the Lions release their injury report later today, but this is a great sign for LaPorta's availability.
TE Sam LaPorta (ankle) back at the open portion of #Lions practice Friday. Looked pretty good running around, too. Good to see as the Lions host a good Seattle defense Monday

Thursday practice update
According to Colton Pouncy of The Athletic, LaPorta did not practice on Thursday but was working off to the side.

No Frank Ragnow, Dan Skipper or Ifeatu Melifonwu, either.
Good news: DB Brian Branch and DT Alim McNeill practiced Thursday.
End of Thursday practice update
Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, LaPorta is dealing with a low-ankle sprain, which is good news considering it isn't a high-ankle sprain that is a multi-week injury. This gives the young tight end a chance to suit up in Week 4.
Adding to the positive outlook on LaPorta, head coach Dan Campbell revealed on Monday that the former second-round pick is day-to-day, which further lends to the idea that he's got a shot to play.
Seeing as how they're playing on Monday night, the Lions won't release their first injury report of the week until Thursday afternoon. We'll make sure to update our tracker with his practice participation and anything else we learn about his status throughout the week.
Sam LaPorta Fantasy Football Outlook
LaPorta is no doubt off to a disappointing start to the season, but he was on pace for his best game of 2024 last week before getting hurt. His breakout game is coming and he should remain in lineups moving forward.
