The Denver Broncos have been in training camp for over a week and are still over a week away from their first preseason game. But when it comes to the quarterback competition, it seems as though one player has been eliminated from contention for the starting job.
The starting job will eventually belong to first-round pick Bo Nix. The question for this season will be how long before he takes that over and what will be the plan until he is ready? That plan will almost certainly be Jarrett Stidham starting until Nix is ready to take the field.
The other quarterback on the Broncos' roster, Zach Wilson, is likely just fighting to stay on the roster at all.
Zach Wilson entered #Broncos camp with ground to cover to win the backup job. Although the former Jets No. 2 overall pick is not eliminated from the starter battle, Jarrett Stidham and Bo Nix have separated from him early in camp https://t.co/7IutGl9klG

Jarrett Stidham is hanging with Bo Nix in training camp
If the season were to start today, Stidham would most likely get the nod. He might be just a tick ahead of Nix and he has a thorough understanding of what Sean Payton wants to do. He's a safe option and a quarterback who will hopefully hold things down until Nix is up to speed.

Nix will start in 2024 at some point, there is almost no doubt about that. It will likely be early too and he still has a month to convince the coaching staff to give him the keys in Week 1, something that could certainly happen.
As for Wilson, he seems a distant third in this race and if the team does not decide to keep all three quarterbacks, a distinct possibility, the future of his playing career is in serious jeopardy.
