Denver Broncos make series of roster moves ahead of Week 3 image

The Denver Broncos have started the 2024 season in rough fashion and face a red-hot Tampa Bay Buccaneers team in Week 3. While many teams around the league have already been hit hard by the injury bug, the Broncos have remained fairly fortunate in that department.

However, Mike McGlinchey suffered an MCL injury and will miss several weeks, causing the team to put him on injured reserve. While the team will need to turn to players like Matt Peart and some undrafted rookies, this move caused a chain reaction of roster moves this week.

Here is a recap of the transactions that have taken place.

Recent Denver Broncos transactions

Released LB Ronnie Perkins

The Broncos placed Perkins on IR following the preseason but before reducing their 53-man roster. This move was expected and is now official.

Perkins was signed off the practice squad of the New England Patriots last September. A former third-round pick, Perkins played in seven games for the Broncos last season and registered 13 total tackles.

Signed LB Andrew Farmer

Andrew Farmer was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Lane College last year by the Los Angeles Chargers. He suited up for them in eight games last season and had three tackles, being used mostly on special teams.

He will join the Broncos' practice squad.

Elevated LB Dondrea Tillman

After placing McGlinchey on IR, the Broncos had an open spot on the 53-man roster, which was used to elevate Dondrea Tillman from the practice squad. Many (myself included) felt that Tillman should have made the initial 53-man roster following the preseason.

The Broncos waived the UFL champion but were able to bring him back to the practice squad and he gets his first call-up in Week 3. There is still a good chance he will be on the inactive list come game day against Tampa Bay.
