As the Denver Broncos trim their roster in time for the 2:00 p.m. MT deadline set by the league on Tuesday, one of the more surprising bits of news across all of the league came out on Monday that the team will move on from veteran wide receiver Tim Patrick. The same will be the case for running back Samaje Perine.

It's a tough move for Broncos Country to accept as Patrick, playing for the first time in over two years, looked terrific in the preseason. For a team with a rookie quarterback, a steady veteran such as Patrick made plenty of sense. But in the business of the NFL, these moves are sometimes necessary.

Trading Patrick will save the team a little over $1 million against the cap. Trading Perine will bring back $3 million. While having to deal with the massive cap hit from the Russell Wilson contract, these moves can be necessary.

And the Broncos clearly feel like there is enough talent at wide receiver on the team to be able to deal Patrick. So who could be interested? Here are three teams that could strike a deal with Denver.

Tim Patrick could be traded to one of these teams

Pittsburgh Steelers

This would be something as one of the most disappointing aspects of Russell Wilson's tenure in Denver was that he never got to throw the ball to Patrick because injuries took him off the field for the entire 2022 and 2023 seasons.

The Steelers could use another pass-catcher and have been tied to rumors around Brandon Aiyuk for weeks. Patrick could be had for far less and give the Steelers another veteran option.

San Francisco 49ers

If the 49ers are unable to resolve the contractual issues with Aiyuk, they will need more weaponry in the passing game. But even with Aiyuk there, Patrick would be an upgrade over their current No. 3 wide receiver, Jauan Jennings.

The 49ers are still very much a Super Bowl contender and they could be aggressive in upgrading their wide receiver room.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys are fresh off giving a huge deal to their star wideout, CeeDee Lamb. But the next two wide receivers on the depth chart are Brandin Cooks and Jalen Tolbert.

Patrick would make a lot of sense for this team, giving Dak Prescott another proven option in the passing game.

New Orleans Saints

Sean Payton sends Patrick to his former team? Sure, why not?

The Saints aren't exactly loaded at wide receiver. They have Chris Olave as their No.1 guy but after that, the depth chart shows Rashid Shaheed and A.T. Perry as the next options. Patrick would be a welcome addition for this team in a very winnable division.
