The Dallas Cowboys locked up CeeDee Lamb for the long-term future, signing him to a four-year, $136 million extension. However, that doesn't solve the lack of depth and talent they have behind the All-Pro pass catcher.
Outside of Brandin Cooks as the opposite boundary receiver, Dallas' depth chart of pass-catchers features names like Jalen Tolbert, Jalen Brooks, Jalen Cropper, and KaVontae Turpin. No disrespect to any of them, but that's simply not going to cut it if you plan on making a deep run in the playoffs in today's NFL. However, the division-rival New York Giants recently released a receiver that could come in and be the Cowboys' immediate starter in the slot.
Isaiah Hodgins was a surprise cut by the Giants. He helped New York get to the playoffs in 2022 with 33 catches and four touchdowns in eight games. Last year, he only hauled in 21 receptions, but you also have to remember that the Giants were starting a roster of Radio Shack workers at quarterback.
The former sixth-round pick could slide in and be a very solid option in the slot alongside Lamb and Cooks. And if the Cowboys also wanted to see if they could acquire Tim Patrick or John Metchie, they'd have a much more complete receiving corps.
