The 1-1 Cleveland Browns know they have much to improve despite a great team win against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2.
That's why the team does not diminish the challenge the 0-2 New York Giants pose in Week 3. Trap games are commonly discussed in the NFL, but in Week 3 of the NFL season, they are probably not a reality.
Myles Garrett shot down any thoughts of the Browns taking the Giants lightly. He said: "We're just as desperate as them."
The Browns are desperate to turn the page on a weak start against the Cowboys as well as off-the-field issues for quarterback Deshaun Watson who is facing a new civil suit and rookie defensive tackle Mike Hall, Jr. currently on the Commissioner's Exempt List after pleading no contest last week to disorderly conduct stemming from a domestic altercation.
The team has already been faced with numerous injuries on top of those known and expected to require more recovery time for Nick Chubb, Nyheim Himes, Jedrick Wills, and Jack Conklin. David Njoku is out, and Dawand Jones, Pierre Strong Jr., and Denzel Ward have been dealing with issues.
Garrett has not been immune from the injury bug either. His is perhaps the most serious. The reigning DPOTY has quietly been dealing with what was called a foot injury for weeks. On Friday, he shared more specifics about his chronic injury. Both feet are affected. He had double foot surgery as a child, and Garrett is not sure if that is contributing to the problems. Further surgery on both feet may be necessary down the line, but for now, Garrett is managing by sitting out of practice on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
While not at 100%, Garrett believes he has plenty to contribute on the field and will continue to tough out the pain to do so. How long he can manage in this way remains to be seen.
#Browns Myles Garrett said he hopes over the next couple of weeks the foot injury becomes something that isn't bothering him as consistently as it is now.
