The Chicago Bears have dealt with a work-in-progress offense up to this point in the season. Through two weeks, they sit at 1-1, but the offense has struggled. They are 31st in the NFL in total offense, averaging 176.5 total yards per game.
Their scoring is a little better at 18.5 points per game, which is tied for 18th in the league. Still, things have been rough in Chicago, and they need more out of players like Rome Odunze on the outside.
Recently, ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky got on X and said that the Chicago Bears need to start getting more comfortable throwing to Odunze when he is “covered.” He also said that Odunze is struggling to get open at the NFL level, and they need to get him going more in other ways
This ignited a firestorm online from fans, but one particular tweet got the most attention, and it was from James Odunze, Rome’s dad. He tweeted a video of him getting open in the endzone and then quote-tweeted it, saying that it was just a response to Orlovsky, not an indictment on Caleb Williams or the rest of the Bears offense.
Odunze still has a lot of potential at the NFL level, especially because he has only appeared in two games. Odunze could be the perfect complement to help Williams grow and develop into a great quarterback. The potential is there, now it’s just a matter of going out and executing it.
