The Buffalo Bills offense has nosedived over the last two weeks. After a 3-0 start that featured the Bills scoring more than 30 points in every game, including a 47-point performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Bills have scored 30 combined points in their last two games, and looked rough in doing so.
In Weeks 4 and 5, the Bills rank 25th in EPA per play and 31st in success rate. Josh Allen went 9-of-30 against the Houston Texans, and the offense looked a lot like it did under Ken Dorsey, featuring far too many shots downfield to receivers that couldn't separate and a run game that wasn't featured enough. Now, the Bills' offense is getting more bad news.
Running back James Cook will not be practicing on Wednesday, according to head coach Sean McDermott. Along with Cook, Khalil Shakir and Curtis Samuel will also not be practicing. Cook and Samuel are said to be dealing with toe and foot issues.
Cook has been a key focal point of the offense both in the run game and opening up the passing game. He has four touchdowns on the ground and over 300 yards on over four yards per carry. He's also added 11 catches and one touchdown as a receiver.
Shakir is the team's top receiver, and the offense fell off a cliff in Week 5 without him. The Bills need all of their stars back as soon as possible, especially against the Jets at MetLife, as they will be desperate to save their season following the firing of Robert Saleh.
