With how active Daryl Morey and the Philadelphia 76ers were this offseason, there’s no reason to assume they’ll take their foot off the gas.
The Sixers are going all in for a championship, meaning a final acquisition to push them over the hump is feasible. One potential target is Atlanta Hawks' Jalen Johnson.
Bleacher Report’s Grant Hughes named Johnson one of Philadelphia’s top-three trade targets, writing, “A breakout player last season, the power forward brings immense athleticism and huge scoring potential. If the Sixers put major draft capital on the table—the 2028 Clippers pick plus their own 2029 and 2031 firsts—maybe Atlanta listens.”
Hughes made sure to note Johnson becomes available only by his own wishes, as the Hawks have no desire to part with their rising star. Even still, Philadelphia would need to part ways with the remainder of their future assets.
Johnson is a freak of nature who was in heavy discussion to win the Most Improved Player award last season. He averaged 16 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists on 51.1% shooting in 56 appearances last year. Acquiring Johnson would do much more than act as the final piece of the puzzle.
If the 22-year-old feels his talents are best suited elsewhere, Morey should at least discuss a potential package with the Hawks' front office.
