While many NBA fans and media members paint the image that Chet and Wemby have 'beef' or a 'rivalry', Oklahoma City Thunder's Chet Holmgren made sure to set the record straight.
In the most recent iteration of Clippers' Paul George's Podcast P, Chet was asked about where their 'energy' originated from when they play against one another, and Chet went on to disprove the public's perception:
"Beef? We are [just] out there competing... we just play basketball against each other" Holmgren said, "We are always going to compete and if people take it as we got beef, those people do not really understand competing".
Chet sets the record straight on “beef” with Wemby.

Chet also touched on his thoughts about the Rookie of the Year race, where Wemby ultimately won the award. Chet stated that while Wemby deserved the award, the criteria for award changes year-by-year, and all he wants to focus on is improving his game each season.
While Wemby may have won the ROY battle, Chet bested him in the winning column, as Holmgren and the Thunder won three out of their four matchups with the Spurs.
Now, Chet looks to add on to his winning record against Wembanyama, where they will face off three times, the first matchup coming on October 30 in OKC.
