NBA and Boston Celtics legend Kevin Garnett said on his podcast that the new look New York Knicks are still not a match for the C’s. The Knicks made a big move this offseason to acquire Mikal Bridges, but it seems it’s still not enough.

“New York is trying to do something special bro. And if they can do something in this climate?” said Garnett. “Only problem is there’s a big old buzzsaw, that’s a green buzzsaw that’s cutting everything in half.”

The Celtics were dominant last season, especially against the Knicks. Overall, they were 68-14, and they faced the Knicks five times. The Celtics were 4-1 against the Knicks, winning three of the four games by 10 or more.

The Knicks also lost as a second seed in the playoffs, in a seven game series against the Indiana Pacers, while the Celtics only lost three games in the playoffs and won the NBA Finals. The Knicks did have multiple injuries, but the Celtics were also missing a core piece of their offense in Kristaps Porzingis.

Even with their new look, the Knicks cannot claim to be better than the C’s until they beat them multiple times this season by a good margin. If they can’t, it looks like an Eastern Conference Finals exit for them by the Celtics.
