Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards sparked a debate in the NBA community he wasn't anticipating.

Edwards did not pay homage to the generations of talent before him but rather only credited the arguable G.O.A.T. Michael Jordan. A handful of Hall of Famers, including Magic Johnson, came forth criticizing the Wolves guard.

Now, Philadelphia 76ers superstar Paul George is joining those calling out Edwards on a recent podcast episode.

“I thought it was kind of disrespectful to the game,” George said. “I thought it was a very immature comment. Obviously, Anthony Edwards is super talented and is a huge talent going forward. But, just how much the game has grown and how far—you gotta pay dues to those dudes that did it before us.”

It's hard to say whether Edwards was just praising Jordan or, in fact, trashing the older generations. If it's the latter, almost none agree with his opinion, as many of the top players in history came from past eras, with the exceptions of LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry.

Here's Edwards' original comment that riled up so many with connections to the league.

"I didn’t watch it back in the day so I can’t speak on it," Edwards shared in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. "They say it was tougher back then than it is now, but I don’t think anybody had skill back then. (Michael Jordan) was the only one that really had skill, you know what I mean? So that’s why when they saw Kobe (Bryant), they were like, 'Oh, my God.' But now everybody has skill."

It's worth noting the Sixers star was not calling Edwards immature, but his statement. George is one of the first active players to publicly slam Edwards for the remark, meaning his comment could follow with many more.
