Every year teams in the NBA enter the season just hoping they can avoid any major injuries throughout the long season. The truth is injuries are a part of the game and it’s not a matter of if, but when. Fortunately, the Miami Heat were dealt some good news as the season nears.
The Heat fell short last season after being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Boston Celtics. Injuries played a big part in the team’s disappointing year, but the team is set to have one of their best shotmakers healthy when training camp starts.
“I feel great,” Duncan Robinson stated in his conversation with local Miami reporters. “We took all the necessary steps, seeing who we needed to see. Not restricted in any way. Have (not been limited) for the better part of eight weeks. Playing pickup. No limitations.”
Robinson missed the final 14 games of the regular season with a back injury last year. The sharpshooter managed to return to the Heat’s lineup in the postseason, but it was clear the Michigan product wasn’t himself averaging 2.6 points across 5 games against the Celtics.
The forward went undrafted in 2018 but has developed into an offensive weapon during his time in Miami under Erik Spoelstra. Shooting 40.2% from three through his five-year career, Robinson is best known for his movement away from the ball and his ability to square up and shoot from anywhere on the court.
With the 30-year-old healthy, he could play a pivotal role for Miami as the Heat look to return to contention.
