The New York Yankees have reportedly shown interest in a pair of Los Angeles Angels hitters ahead of the Major League Baseball trade deadline.

After adding Jazz Chisholm in a trade with the Miami Marlins earlier this week, the Yankees may not be done adding to the offense.

According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, the Yankees have inquired about potential trades for Luis Rengifo and Taylor Ward.

Rengifo has long been linked as a potential trade target for the Yankees ahead of Tuesday's deadline. His versatility is a nice fit, but he's a poor defender.

His value comes with getting on base and avoiding strikeouts, but his underlying metrics are concerning given his soft contact and low walk rate.

Ward may not have the same production as Rengifo, but his 16 home runs and above-average metrics would fit nicely in the Yankees lineup. He does strikeout a bit more than usual, but his barrel rate, average exit velocity and walk rate are all well above average.

The Yankees need to add more protection in the lineup for Aaron Judge and Juan Soto so these will be two names to keep an eye on as the deadline approaches.
