New York Yankees star Aaron Judge is in the middle of a historic stretch that hasn't been seen in MLB before.
Judge is the first player since at least 1901 to record at least 12 doubles and 11 home runs in a 20-game span. His epic streak now has him tied for the MLB lead in home runs (17) while his 1.050 OPS now leads all players.
His 3.3 fWAR is tied for the second highest in MLB behind only Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Whitt Jr. (3.4). And just has done all of this in the month of May due to an uncharacteristically slow start to the season.
Judge's teammate, outfielder Alex Verdugo, had the perfect quote to sum up how incredible this stretch has been for the Yankees captain.
“That’s my season,” Verdugo said of Judge's 20-game stretch.
Verdugo isn't having a bad season himself with a .744 OPS and six home runs while playing an exceptional left field. But what Judge is doing is quite literally historic.
The Yankees are cruising into the month of June. The insane stretch from Judge, combined with the consistency from Juan Soto and an incredible start to the season from the starting rotation has the Bronx Bombers holding the best record in the American League.
The Yankees have won four straight along with 11 of their last 13 games.
