After the Boston Red Sox dropped their series opener to the New York Yankees 2-1 on Thursday, the two teams will meet again on Friday at Yankee Stadium.
For the matchup, Boston will send Tanner Houck to the mound while New York will counter with Clarke Schmidt.

Houck has been great for Boston this season, posting a 3.24 ERA (13th in baseball) and a 1.17 WHIP (25th) while striking out 150 batters (tied for 42nd) in 28 starts. However, he's allowed at least four earned runs in two of his last three outings. Seven Yankees have recorded hits against him - Aaron Judge (4-for-13 with an RBI and two walk), Giancarlo Stanton (2-for-12 with an RBI and two walks), Gleyber Torres (7-for-22 with a home run, four RBIs and three walks), Jose Trevino (1-for-3), Alex Verdugo (1-for-5), Anthony Volpe (1-for-8 with an RBI and three walks) and Austin Wells (2-for-8 with an RBI).
Schmidt has been great for New York as well in his 12 starts, posting a 2.34 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP while striking out 69 batters. He's made one start since returning from the injured list (strained right lat), tossing 4 2/3 scoreless innings. Six Red Sox have recorded hits against him in his career - Wilyer Abreu (1-for-2 with an RBI and a walk), Triston Casas (1-for-5 with a solo home run and two walks), Rafael Devers (6-for-12 with two home runs, three RBIs and a walk), Jarren Duran (2-for-5 with two walks), Romy Gonzalez (1-for-2) and Ceddanne Rafaela (1-for-3).
