After a day off on Thursday, the Boston Red Sox will host the Chicago White Sox on Friday night at Fenway Park for their first of three games over the weekend.

For this matchup, Boston will send Nick Pivetta to the mound while Chicago will counter with Davis Martin.

Pivetta has been all right for Boston this season, posting a 4.53 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP while striking out 141 batters in 22 appearances (21 starts). He allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk in his last outing against the Detroit Tigers. Five White Sox - Andrew Benintendi (1-for-9 with a walk), Nicky Lopez (3-for-5 with a walk), Luis Robert Jr. (2-for-11 with an RBI), Lenyn Sosa (1-for-2), Andrew Vaughn (1-for-5 with two walks).

Martin has been good for Chicago in his seven appearances (six starts), posting a 3.62 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP while striking out 32 batters this year. He's allowed two or fewer earned runs in all but two of his outings, and he's never faced a single member of the Red Sox lineup.
