At the 2024 MLB trade deadline, the Boston Red Sox made a number of trades to help the team in the present and the future.
The one move that Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow to help the team in the coming years was sending former first-round pick Nick Yorke to the Pittsburgh Pirates for pitcher Quinn Priester.
Before the trade, Yorke was crushing it for Triple-A Worcester, hitting .310 with an .898 OPS, six home runs 19 RBIs and six stolen bases in 38 games. And, since the move, he's been even better for Pittsburgh's Triple-A affiliate in Indianapolis, hitting .352 with an .899 OPS, one home run, 20 RBIS and three stolen bases.
Priester hasn't looked quite as good. After Wednesday night's outing (which was a great one), he holds a 6.23 ERA and a 1.308 WHIP while striking out 26 batters in 26 innings over six starts.
It's extremely early, and there's obviously a lot of time left for both players, but so far, this trade hasn't been their best.
