After the Boston Red Sox suffered a 5-2 defeat at the hands of the Oakland Athletics, the two teams are meeting for the series finale at Fenway Park on Thursday.

Houck has been great for Boston this year, posting a 2.68 ERA (sixth in baseball) and a 1.05 WHIP (tied for 14th) while striking out 106 batters. His last start was shortened due to a rain delay against the New York Yankees. He's allowed hits to just two Athletics - Bleday (2-for-3) and Gelof (1-for-3).
Medina has been solid for Oakland in his seven starts, recording a 4.37 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP while striking out 25 hitters. He's given up one run in each of his last two starts against the Baltimore Orioles and Arizona Diamondbacks. Three Red Sox have hits against him in his career - Duran (2-for-6 with an RBI), Smith (1-for-2) and Yoshida (2-for-2).
