The Boston Red Sox dropped the middle game of their series with the New York Yankees on Sunday with reliever Chase Anderson giving up three runs (two earned) in the 10th inning.
Now, according to MassLive's Chris Cotillo, the Red Sox are expected to designate Anderson for assignment.
Anderson, 26, has posted a 4.85 ERA (5.57 FIP) and a 1.25 WHIP while striking out 35 batters in 52 innings over 27 appearances in 2024.
Boston needs to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for catcher Danny Jansen, who they acquired in a trade from the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday, so this sounds like the corresponding move.
