Ahead of the Boston Red Sox's series finale against the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night at Fenway Park, the team announced a series of roster moves.
Boston reinstated outfielder Jarren Duran from the suspended list and optioned infielder Enmanuel Valdez back to Triple-A Worcester. They also placed left-handed reliever Cam Booser on the 15-day injured list with left elbow inflammation and recalled left-handed reliever Brennan Bernardino.
Durran was suspended earlier in the week for using a homophobic slur toward a fan. He'll return to the outfield on Wednesday and reclaim his spot atop the lineup.
Valdez has moved back and forth between Boston and Worcester this season. He appeared in just three games during this stin, recording one hit and one walk in six at-bats. On the year, he's hit .224 with a .682 OPS, six home runs and 27 RBIs.
Booser has also been back and forth between the MLB and Triple-A levels, but he's been pretty good for Boston overall, posting a 3.00 ERA (3.34 FIP) and a 1.238 WHIP while striking out 42 batters in his 41 appearances. However, he did allow three inherited runners to score in Tuesday's win over Texas.
Bernardino had started out the year hot after being originally sent to Triple-A out of spring training, but his ERA has jumped up to 3.83 with a 1.425 WHIP. He was just recently sent back to Worcester to work on some things, but he didn't even get a chance to make an appearance in Triple-A during his stay.
