The New York Yankees placed relief pitcher Nick Burdi on the 15-day injured list, the team announced Friday.
This is the second time this season Burdi has hit the injured list due to hip inflammation. In 9.2 innings pitched this season, Burdi has a 1.86 ERA with 12 strikeouts and nine walks.
The hard-throwing Burdi has dealt with injuries throughout his career, but he's certainly shown upside as a max-effort reliever out of the bullpen.
In a corresponding move, the Yankees recalled right-handed pitcher Yeondrys Gomez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. In 27.1 innings this season, Gomez has a 3.62 ERA in eight starts. He also has 33 strikeouts and 18 walks and a 1.43 WHIP.
