The New York Yankees have a crucial offseason coming up that will forever alter the direction of the franchise.
As they prepare to take on the Kansas City Royals in the American League Division Series, the Yankees also have an eye on the free-agent market this winter.
They, of course, want to re-sign the biggest name on the market in Juan Soto.
However, Zach Pressnell of Fansided also believes the Yankees could be in the market to make a major addition to the hot corner.
Pressnell predicted the Yankees will be the team to sign Houston Astros superstar Alex Bregaman.
"There are a ton of different teams that could use a player like Bregman. Based on the Matt Chapman contract extension (six years, $151 million), there will only be a few teams in the league that can afford to pay Bregman in that range. If it was going to be the Astros, they would have already extended him by now. I see him leaving Houston this offseason," Pressnell wrote.
"My prediction for Alex Bregman is that he signs with the rival New York Yankees, effectively moving Jazz Chisholm to second base."
Adding Bregman to the hot corner would address one of the Yankees' biggest needs going into the offseason. How they would be able to swing bringing back Soto and signing Bregaman to a deal potentially worth $30 million annually over four years, according to Spotrac, remains to be seen.
Bregman had a down year by his standards, but he would still be an impeccable addition if possible. He hit .260 with 26 home runs, 75 RBI and a .768 OPS.
The hot stove should be burning this offseason, and the Yankees have been linked to Bregman as a potential landing spot for months now.
