The New York Yankees revealed Wednesday their starting rotation for the American League Division Series.
Preparing with a week off, the Yankees will play the winner of the wild-card series between the Kansas City Royals and Baltimore Orioles.
As the Yankees wait for their opponent to be revealed, they announced the starting rotation for the upcoming five-game Divisional Series.
Yankees probable starters for Division Series
In no surprise, ace Gerrit Cole will take the ball during Game 1 of the series on Saturday night. Cole missed the first two months of the season due to an elbow issue that popped up during spring training.
The reigning American League Cy Young award winner had some early struggles but really hit his stride during the final two months of the season.
In 17 starts, Colts was 8-5 with a 3.41 ERA across 95 innings pitched. However, he was 5-3 over his final eight starts with a 2.20 ERA, 47 strikeouts and 15 walks in 49 innings.
Getting the ball for the Yankees in Game 2 of the division series will be left-hander Carlos Rodon.
The southpaw had a rocky start to the season with a 4.63 ERA over 20 starts during the first half, but he really made a difference during the second half of the campaign.
Over his final 12 starts, Rodon went 7-2 with a 2.91 ERA, 83 strikeouts and 24 walks across 68 innings pitched.
For Game 3, it seems the Yankees are still undecided. It could be Luis Gil or Clarke Schmidt, but that might depend on how the first two games of the series go.
Schmidt could be used out of the bullpen during the first two games. If that's the case, Gil would get the start on the road for Game 3.
