There seems to be no love lost between New York Yankees star Jazz Chisholm and the Kansas City Royals.
After making headlines early during the American League Division Series by saying the Royals "just got lucky" in their Game 2 win, things got a bit heated in the Yankees' series-clinching win on Thursday night.
After benches cleared following a double play that included both a hard slide from Royals' Maikel Garcia and a hard tag from Yankees' Anthony Volpe, Chisholm took exception to the former's intent.
“I just felt like [Garcia] tried to go injure Volpe because he was being a sore loser,” Chisholm said via The New York Post. “He was talking a lot on Instagram and Twitter and stuff. I do the same thing, but I’m not going to try to go injure somebody if they’re winning a game and I didn’t like that. So I told him we don’t do that on this side. I’m always going to stick up for my guys.”
Chisholm is likely referring to the social media posts from Garcia after the Royals' Game 2 win in which the Kansas City infielder warned the Yankees about celebrating early.

Yankees fans certainly let Garcia know their feelings both before and after the team clinched the series victory with a 3-1 win at Kauffman Stadium on Thursday night.
Ever since he was acquired at the trade deadline, Chisholm has been a boisterous voice in the locker room, and that's not going to change as long as he's wearing pinstripes.
Now, the focus turns to preparing to host the winner of the Game 5 matchup between the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians, which takes place Saturday night.
