New York Yankees top prospect Jasson Dominguez gave the fanbase quite a scare Sunday afternoon when it was announced he was placed on the minor league injured list.
Dominguez, who recently returned from the torn UCL that ended his exciting eight-game stretch during the 2023 season, had been tearing it up at Double-A and Triple-A since making his return.
So, it was only natural to have some concern when it was announced that he'd been placed on the seven-day injured list.

However, manager Aaron Boone somewhat quelled those concerns by providing an update to the media Sunday, saying Dominguez is dealing with an oblique injury.

It seems the injury may have happened on a check swing during an at-bat in Rochester on Friday evening. Dominguez ended this at-bat by striking out looking before he was taken out of the game.

In 23 games, Dominguez had a .356 average and 1.013 OPS to go along with six home runs, 13 RBI and 53 total bases.
The 21-year-old phenom, nicknamed "The Martian" is still expected to get called up at some point during the 2024 season as long as this oblique injury isn't too serious.
The Yankees have a stout trio in the outfield with Aaron Judge, Juan Soto and Alex Verdugo, but it seems like it's only a matter of time before Dominguez gets a full chance to prove himself.
That chance may be put on hold for now, though, as he rests from this latest injury.
