New York Yankees activated infielder DJ LeMahieu from the injured list, the team announced Tuesday.

As expected, LeMahieu finished up his minor league rehab assignment over the weekend in time to join the Yankees as they continue their trip on the West Coast.

Coming off a series win over the San Diego Padres, the Yankees have a three-game series starting Tuesday against the Los Angeles Angels and then wrap up the trip with a visit against the San Francisco Giants.

LeMahieu has been dealing with a non-displaced fracture since fouling a ball off his right foot during spring training. The Yankees thought he'd be ready in April, but a few setbacks kept pushing the return date back.

With LeMahieu officially activated, he will resume his role as the regular third baseman. He won't be taking the leadoff spot in the lineup, though, as shortstop Anthony Volpe has thrived in that role to begin the season.

LeMahieu being back full-time means Oswaldo Cabrera will go to the bench, and there's also a chance the former gives Anthony Rizzo a spell at first base at times.

The Yankees and Angels are set for first pitch at 9:38 p.m. ET on Tuesday night.
