Even though the Los Angeles Dodgers made a massive investment last offseason, they still have some holes on the roster to address.
Los Angeles won 98 games last year, so let's not overreact. The Dodgers are a great team, and although they need more pitching, clearly, they still can rack up wins. Injuries significantly hurt the Dodgers' starting rotation this season and, so it wouldn't be a shock to see the Dodgers bring in at least one veteran this winter.
Because of this, Bleacher Report's Zachary Rymer listed the Dodgers among "potential fits" for Houston Astros starter Yusei Kikuchi.
"Yusei Kikuchi would not have been on this list two months ago, but leave it to the Astros to get their hooks in a guy and infuse him with ample nastiness," Rymer said. "Kikuchi made 10 starts for Houston, and those saw him rack up 76 strikeouts and only 14 walks across 60 innings. He was one of the top pitchers in the American League for that span...
"Kikuchi got a three-year, $36 million deal the last time he was a free agent during the 2021-22 offseason. A similar deal may be in order this time around, though it'll likely have a higher average annual value. Potential Fits: Los Angeles Dodgers, Minnesota Twins, St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles."
Kikuchi is a one-time All-Star and six-year big league veteran. He will be available this winter and was red-hot down the stretch. There certainly will be a handful of teams that show interest in him and Los Angeles should be one.
He won't be super expensive and is dependable. Kikuchi has appeared in 32 games in each of the last three seasons. Why not take a chance on him?
