The Toronto Blue Jays will have some tough decisions to make this winter.
After a tough 2024 season, the Blue Jays are now at a crossroads. Toronto decided to sell around the trade deadline and dealt away most of its impending free agents. The Blue Jays still have a very talented roster but now need to decide if they want to embrace a rebuild and trade players like Bo Bichette or attempt to make a run in 2025.
It's too early to tell, but luckily, the Blue Jays don't have many free agents to worry about after trading most of them away. One Blue Jays hurler who will be a free agent, though, is veteran reliever Ryan Yarbrough.
He was traded by the Los Angeles Dodgers to the Blue Jays in a deal for outfielder Kevin Kiermaier. Yarbrough appeared in 12 games with the Blue Jays and logged a 2.01 ERA and 26-to-7 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 31 1/3 innings pitched.
Yarbrough was great for the Blue Jays and now will cash in this winter. He is projected to get a deal worth roughly $26.4 million over five years, according to Spotrac.
This doesn't mean that this is the exact deal that he will receive, but it is his projected market value.
If the Blue Jays are looking to make a run in 2025 and keep the roster together, it could make sense to bring the veteran back. He already has shown that he can have success in Toronto and won't cost too much. Why not bring him back at this point?
