After the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins had their Saturday battle postponed due to weather, the two teams met on Sunday for a doubleheader, and Boston won the first game 8-1 at Fenway Park.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora was ejected early in this one after second baseman Vaughn Grissom was ruled to interfere with Twins outfielder Byron Buxton, who was returning to the base during a pick-off attempt.

Boston's offense was solid in this one, with Triston Casas (3-for-4) driving in seven of the team's eight runs on three separate home runs. The other run came on a Romy Gonzalez (2-for-5) RBI single. Masataka Yoshida (2-for-4) was the only other Red Sox hitter to record multiple hits in the contest.

Nick Pivetta tossed five one-run, four-hit innings while striking out four. Luis Garcia, Lucas Sims, Greg Weissert and Kenley Jansen threw a scoreless inning each with Sims being the only one to allow someone to reach base.

The win brought Boston to 77-78 and 36-41 at home. They'll meet Sunday night for the second half of the doubleheader.
