The Boston Red Sox downed the Chicago White Sox 6-4 at Guaranteed Rate Field on Sunday afternoon in extra innings.
In the eighth inning and down by one run, Boston turned to closer Kenley Jansen who struck out three of the four batters that he faced (allowing a double to Lenyn Sosa).
Then, Jansen came back out and recorded three more outs in the bottom of the ninth after the Red Sox tied the game in the top.
That was the first time that Jansen had recorded six outs in a game since August 2021.
Boston went on to win the game in the 10th inning, and Jansen recorded the win, his second of the season, to bring the team back to a .500 record.
While there's been a lot of talk about Jansen's future with the club, he's been pretty good for Boston, posting a 2.61 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP while recording nine saves and just one blown save.
