Fans of the Boston Red Sox are seemingly in on the Alex Bregman sweepstakes. Bregman and the Houston Astros just got swept in the Wildcard series against the Detroit Tigers, and will now become a free agent.
It seems like Bregman will test free agency, with a rather cryptic thank you he gave to Houston on his X account.
Thank you Houston

Bregman is a career .270 hitter, with almost 200 homers. He has won two world series with the Astros, and was the MVP of the first.
Bregman would address the righty hitter problem the Sox have, but he also plays the same position as Rafael Devers, third base.
Devers could move to DH since he doesn’t field as well as Bregman, but then Masataka Yoshida, the full-time DH of the Sox, would need a new spot.
However, Yoshida has told the media he is undergoing shoulder surgery this offseason, which may set him back from returning on time. Therefore, Devers can take the DH spot until his return.
Should the Sox target Bregman? Other than his average being a little low this past season, sitting at .260, there’s not many reasons to not try.
I’d be all-in on Bregman this offseason.
