Red Sox announce 4 roster moves regarding their pitching staff image

The Boston Red Sox haven't gotten the best performance from their pitchers since the All-Star break, and things are getting even worse for the pitching staff.

On Friday, the Red Sox announced that they've placed right-handed starter Brayan Bello on the paternity list and right-handed pitcher Cooper Criswell on the COVID-19 list.

Bello, 25, hasn't been the best this year, posting a 5.16 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP in his 21 starts this year, but he's better lately, allowing three or fewer runs in each of his last five outings. Criswell, 28, has been all right, recording a 4.02 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP in 18 appearances (13 starts) for Boston this year. He was also expected to start Saturday's matchup with the Houston Astros.

To fill the holes on the roster, Boston has recalled left-handed reliever Cam Booser and right-handed pitcher Brad Keller from Triple-A Worcester.

Booser was just sent down on Wednesday. He's appeared in 39 games for Boston in 2024, recording a 3.42 ERA and a 1.025 WHIP while striking out 29 batters. Keller has tossed just 16 2/3 innings for the Red Sox and allowed 10 runs
