Former Red Sox manager comes out of retirement to manage Reds image

Former Boston Red Sox manager Terry Francona is coming out of retirement to manage the Cincinnati Reds, per Mark Feinsand. Francona retired after last season with the Cleveland Guardians, but it seems he still has some baseball left in him.

Francona managed the Red Sox from 2004 to 2011, helping the team win two World Series in 2004 and 2007. Before that he managed the Philadelphia Phillies from 1997 to 2000.

After the Sox, Francona took a two-year break, and then led the Cleveland Indians/Guardians from 2013 to 2023, where he won three Manager of the Years, and then officially retired once again.

Now, Francona was only gone a year before he signed with another team. The Reds were 77-85 this season, and fired the manager, David Bell.

Francona has a track record of turning around teams, and making them champions or at least contenders. The Reds are young and talented, and with a guy like Francona at the helm, they may become the new rulers of the NL Central.
