The second half of the 2024 Major League Baseball season is about to kick off.
With that being said, that means that the trade deadline finally is near. There have been rumors and speculation swirling all year so far about who possibly could be on the move at the deadline. There even were rumors and speculation about who could be traded at the deadline dating all the way back to Spring Training.
We won't have to wait much longer now to find out. The deadline will pass on July 30th and it's clear that the Atlanta Braves will be looking for upgrades. It's also clear now that the Braves could use a boost in the rotation.
Atlanta lost Spencer Strider to an injury so the Braves have been linked to seemingly every pitcher who could be available. Detroit Tigers hurler Jack Flaherty has been mentioned as a possible option for the Braves on numerous occasions over the last few weeks and he has a "high" chance of being traded, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman.
"He seems to have regained his form, and this rental has a much greater chance to go than Tarik Skubal," Heyman said. "Not for the (Baltimore Orioles). Trade chances: High."
Flaherty is no stranger to the trade deadline after being moved last year and it sounds like another deal is going to happen ahead of the July 30th deadline. If the Braves are looking for a starter who can help down the stretch without breaking the bank, Flaherty could be that guy.
