Steve Kerr was recently asked if there was a specific moment when Draymond Green had made him the angriest during his career. It did not take long for the Golden State Warriors head coach to single out the incident with Jordan Poole during training camp.
Poole is no longer with the team, and a lot of time has passed since then. Draymond has apologized, and Kerr is now comfortable enough to open up about it. Still, that does not stop people from digging even deeper into Green and Poole's relationship during their time as teammates.
A popular NBA X account, LegendZ, who claims to be a professional lip reader, dug up an old video of the Warriors bench during a timeout in 2021. The video appears to show Green and Poole arguing with each other before Green quickly gets up from his seat trying to move towards Poole. Steph Curry holds Green back as teammates get between the two to ensure the situation does not escalate.
Nothing physical takes place, but the two exchange a lot of words, and Green can clearly be seen pointing figures at Poole. LegendZ claims Green starts to threaten Poole, but it is hard to tell for sure exactly what is being said. Regardless, the two players do not appear to be getting along in the slightest.
This video was shot before the Warriors went on to win the championship that season, so obviously, they worked it out as both players had significant roles during Golden State's title run.
Little spats like this one likely started to fuel the tension between Green and Poole. Green views himself as the emotional leader of the team and lets his passion get the best of him from time to time. He wanted the best out of Poole, who is an extremely talented player, but over time, Green may have taken things too far.
Poole's departure has hurt Golden State's production on the court, and if everyone could go back in time, I am sure all parties involved would try to do things a little differently.
