The madness surrounding the Indian Premier League is back as teams gear up to take part in the mega auction of IPL 2025 which will be held in final week of November or the first week of December.
The mega auction is back after a gap of three years. The last time it took place was in 2022 when two new teams Lucknow Supergiants and Gujarat Titans where included in the league.
Some of the biggest names in world cricket, from Glenn Maxwell and Rohit Sharma to Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer, are all linked with moves away from their current employers ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Mahela Jayawardene returns back as MI head coach
Former Sri Lankan cricketer Mahela Jayawardene returned back as head coach of the Mumbai Indians by replacing Mark Boucher.
He had earlier served MI as head coach for five years between 2017 to 2022, where the franchise won 3 titles in 2017, 2019 and 2020.
Mayank Yadav, Nitish Reddy lose 'uncapped' status after T20I debut
The two stars who were part of LSG and SRH last season will now be treated as capped players and therefore, will not be retained at the 4 Cr category.
Mayank could be in huge demand if released into the auction particularly due to his express pace value for any teams. Lucknow will try their best to retain him or bring him back via RTM.

Rohit Sharma to RCB? Ab de Villiers reacts
Former RCB star AB de Villiers reacted to Rohit Sharma potentially leaving Mumbai Indians (MI) for RCB via a trade or in the auction.
"That will be quite a story if Rohit moves from Mumbai Indians to RCB. Wow! Imagine the headlines. It will be bigger than Hardik Pandya's move. He moved from Gujarat Titans back to Mumbai, which although wasn't big a surprise. But if Rohit moves from Mumbai to join his rivals in RCB...oh my god!" ABD said.
However, he ruled out such a move as it appears too good to be true.
"I don't think there is an option there. I do not see a possibility of MI leaving Rohit. I will give that zero or 0.1 per cent chance," he added.
DC 'certainly' retaining Rishabh Pant
Delhi Capitals co-owner has clarified that the franchise will retain the services of their captain Rishabh Pant despite the Indian wicketkeeper being linked with a move to several teams including Chennai Super Kings.
Dwayne Bravo appointed as KKR mentor
Former CSK bowling coach Dwayne Bravo, who had retired from all forms of cricket during the recent Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 season, has now joined the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
He will be replacing now India head coach, Gautam Gambhir as mentor of the franchise for IPL 2025.
Apart from his new role with KKR, Bravo will also be involved in guiding the other Knight Riders franchises in T20 leagues around the world, including Trinbago Knight Riders, Los Angeles Knight Riders, and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders.
Rohit Sharma to KKR
One of the hot topics leading to the IPL 2025 mega auction has been the change in the jersey of the Indian captain, Rohit Sharma. After the rift with the Mumbai Indians (MI) management ahead of last season, Sharma was rumoured to switch to the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a trade move ahead of the auction.
KL Rahul to RCB
KL Rahul has been tipped to make a second homecoming to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ahead of IPL 2025. With RCB looking to move on from Faf Du Plessis as captain, Rahul is supposedly their first choice for the leadership role and would be a like-for-like replacement for the opening slot.
Ravichandran Ashwin to CSK
One of the most recent rumours involves Ravichandran Ashwin, Chennai's son of the soil, returning to CSK ahead of IPL 2025. Ashwin's love story with CSK is not unknown, and he could write another chapter to possibly provide a fairytale end to his IPL career.

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) management have been interested in a move for Gujarat Titans' (GT) ace-pacer, Mohammad Shami. The veteran is sidelined due to injury but is expected to be fit ahead of the IPL 2025. The five-time champions are keeping a close eye on Shami's retention situation with GT.
Shreyas Iyer to MI
It was recently reported that Shreyas Iyer would be on his way to represent his hometown Mumbai in the IPL for the first time. After leading KKR to IPL 2024 triumph, MI owners are said to be keen to acquire the services of the Mumbai-born batter.
Suryakumar Yadav to KKR
In a story related to Hardik Pandya, Shreyas Iyer and Rohit Sharma, India's T20 skipper, Suryakumar Yadav could make a sensational return to KKR. Having played for the franchise in the past, Shah Rukh Khan & Co. would aim to defend their title in 2025 with Surya at the helm.
Rishabh Pant to CSK
One of the biggest questions ahead of IPL 2025 is the availability and participation of CSK and IPL icon, MS Dhoni. Should the 43-year-old choose to hang up his boots, Rishabh Pant was earlier lined up as the first-choice replacement.
However, the latest developments suggest that Delhi Capitals (DC), Pant's current employers, are keen to retain him for 2025 and beyond. Hailing from Delhi, there are no reports about Pant forcing a move away from the national capital.

Jasprit Bumrah to part ways with MI
With every bit of uncertainty surrounding MI, Jasprit Bumrah was earlier tipped to secure a move away from the Wankhede. Having represented MI ever since his debut, Bumrah's journey with the five-time champions could end ahead of IPL 2025. It could all depend on the retentions made by MI, and of course, the captaincy choice.
David Warner to PBKS
With Shikhar Dhawan retired from all forms of cricket, Punjab Kings (PBKS) are supposedly open to hiring the services of a like-for-like replacement option, in the form of David Warner.
Warner would tick every box that Dhawan offered PBKS, and the IPL-veteran could be donning the red of Punjab, come IPL 2025. Moreover, with Ricky Ponting announced as long-term head coach, the rumour could well be materialised.
Umran Malik to part ways with SRH
Once a rising star in Indian cricket, Umran Malik is set to be released by Sunrisers Hyderabad. After coming up the ranks, Malik has seen his fortune turn against him in the previous season. Yuvraj Singh to DC as coach
Yuvraj Singh could be seen in his first coaching role in the IPL, with DC. Singh has also revealed his affinity towards the franchise in a recent interview. Ricky Ponting has left the Capitals to join the Kings, and the former India all-rounder could be involved in some sort of coaching role with the Parth Jindal-owned franchise.

Kumar Sangakkara to KKR
Former Rajasthan Royals (RR) head coach, Kumar Sangakkara is rumoured to join KKR ahead of next season. The first-ever champions have already announced the homecoming of Rahul Dravid ahead of the mega auction.
With Gautam Gambhir leaving the mentor's role at KKR after just one season, the domino effect could see Sanga join KKR as they aim to defend their title in IPL 2025.
Ashish Nehra to part ways with GT
Ashish Nehra could be sacked off his role as GT head coach, after a dismal campaign in 2024. The two-time finalists had their fate against them last season, and Nehra could pay the price for it. GT are supposed to have held talks with former IPL winner, Yuvraj Singh, to replace the former Indian pacer as head coach.
Sourav Ganguly to leave DC
It is rumoured that alongside Ponting, former India captain, Sourav Ganguly is set to be sacked from his role too. The Capitals are looking for a complete revamp ahead of the mega auction in 2025, and have lined Yuvraj Singh up as a possible replacement.

CSK to discuss the uncapped player rule with MS Dhoni
CEO of the Chennai-based franchise, Kasi Viswanathan recently opened up about the return of uncapped player rule which makes Dhoni eligible for being retained at 4 crores where he said that they are yet to have discussions and they may or may not use it for the former captain. He further told that he will be travelling to the USA where MS is currently and might have a meeting to discuss the possibilities.
