The on-going feud between two stars of the Indian team in the Mumbai Indians (MI) dressing room, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya hasn’t been a mystery anymore with a lot of fans displeased with the franchise’s decision to replace Rohit and appoint Hardik as the new skipper.
Times have been really tough for MI in IPL 2024, winning just four games out of the thirteen played so far. Their latest loss came against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens on Saturday evening.
Since the team had already been knocked out from the competition, the loss didn’t make much of a difference but it’s the conversation between ex-captain Rohit Sharma and KKR staff of coach, Abhishek Nayar before the match that has resulted in the speculation of Rohit possibly leaving the franchise that he has played for thirteen long years.

What did Abhishek Nayar and Rohit Sharma talk about?
In the conversation between the two, the MI captain can be heard saying that everything had been changing and it was his home that he built thinking of it as a temple. He was also heard saying that it was his last, before the video got cut short.
KKR had initially released the video of the conversation on their social media channels but later deleted it. This has left fans speculating if Rohit could really leave MI and if he does decide to leave, where will he go?

KKR CEO Venky Mysore on the conversation between Abhishek Nayar and Rohit Sharma
In a recent podcast with RevSportz, KKR CEO Venky Mysore was seen trying to downplay the conversation between Rohit Sharma and Abhishek Nayar, stating that it was nothing much and the two were probably talking about something else.
I didn’t even know about it, I think it’s just a storm in a teacup. They have been good friends since god knows how long and someone has done something there just to create some mischief. I talked to both of them, they were talking about something else. Some people just have too much time on their hands.

Can Rohit play for KKR?
With Rohit’s future growing uncertain in the MI colours with each passing day, speculations have started on where he could move. In an old interview, when asked about his preferences apart from the Mumbai Indians, Rohit said that it would be the KKR outfit since the Eden Gardens has always been a special place for him.

“Eden Gardens is my favorite ground, and a lot has happened in Eden Gardens. So I would say KKR,” Rohit said. He has won two of his six UPL titles at the Eden Gardens and has also scored his maiden ODI and Test centuries at the venue. His maiden IPL century was also scored at this ground. The iconic 264-run knock from the Indian skipper also came at this venue.
