The International Cricket Council (ICC) who have given the hosting rights of the 2025 Champions Trophy to Pakistan are reportedly looking to find an alternative solution to host the prestigious 50-over tournament.

The competition might either be conducted in a hybrid mode or moved away from Pakistan.

Pakistan who are scheduled to host the tournament in February and March 2025 have already started the renovation works in the stadiums but citing India's uncertainty around the participation in Pakistan, ICC is trying to find other solutions which even includes shifting the tournament out of Pakistan.

Will the ICC Champions Trophy be shift away from Pakistan?

Considering India's uncertainty in travelling to Pakistan in 2025, there are currently 3 solutions that the ICC is looking at to resolve the issue at the earliest.

1. Full tournament in Pakistan:

If all the participating members are on the same page, the ICC and PCB will go ahead with the original plan of playing the tournament in Pakistan.

2. Hybrid tournament:

If the issue regarding the participation of all the countries stays unresolved, the ICC might make a change and make PCB host some of the matches of the tournament in Dubai which is the most likely secondary destination to host India's games.

3. Full tournament in a different country:

In case the issues stay unresolved, PCB could also be asked to host the tournament completely in a different country. The most probable destinations could be Dubai, Sri Lanka or even South Africa.

The 2025 edition of the ICC Champions Trophy will be the first time the tournament will be played since Pakistan triumphed over India in the final in 2017 and is originally scheduled to be played in the defending champions' home from February 19, 2025, to March 9, 2025.
