Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) managed to take down the five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and qualify for the playoffs in an enthralling night at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday night.

RCB have managed to make a stunning comeback in the IPL this season, winning six consecutive games to make it to the playoffs and it's their talisman batsman, Virat Kohli who has led the team from the front. The current orange cap holder scored a fast paced 47 off just 29 deliveries against CSK on Saturday, before getting out to Mitchell Santner.

With his 47-run knock, Kohli managed to breach the 700-run mark in an IPL season for the second time in his career. The last time Kohli managed to achieve this feat was back in the 2016 season, when he scored an unbelievable 973 runs in the whole season as RCB went on to the finals, but unfortunately lost to the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Virat Kohli equals Chris Gayle record

Former RCB and West Indies cricketer was present in the stadium as RCB pulled off the impossible right in front of his eyes on Saturday evening.

During his time with the team, Gayle is one of the most important members of the squad and was responsible for giving explosive starts to the team. On Saturday evening, Kohli became the second player for RCB after Gayle to have scored 700+ runs across two different IPL seasons.

Gayle had achieved the feat back in 2013, scoring 708 runs across the season, before which he had scored 733 runs in the 2012 season, wherein RCB managed to make it to the playoffs round of the tournament.
