On Saturday, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced off in a must-win IPL 2024 clash at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. In what has been a rollercoaster campaign for Faf Du Plessis' men, they have mounted a comeback for the history books on Saturday!

Bet here on IPL 2024 and other cricket matches!

CSK won the toss and chose to field first. RCB openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis got off to a good start, scoring 31/0 in 3 overs before the rain set in to cause an interruption. Thereafter, Rajat Patidar and Cameron Green took over as they put on 71 for the third wicket in double-quick time.

RCB score 218 runs: RCB beat CSK by 27 runs to qualify for IPL playoffs

This match was vert vital for RCB, as winning was the only way to go further. Losing was never an option, so much so, that even winning under 18 runs would have them eliminated from the competition.

In what was a humdinger of a contest, RCB beat CSK by 27 runs (9 runs more than the required minimum) to surmount a comeback for the ages. The hosts restricted CSK to 191 runs, after putting on a score of 218 runs, batting first.

Solid knocks from Kohli (47), du Plessis (54), Patidar (41) and Cameron Green (38*) lifted RCB to a competitive 218/5. This means they will now have to restrict CSK to exactly 200 runs or fewer, in order to qualify for the playoffs. This will be no mean feat, given some of the power CSK possesses in their batting order.

At the end, CSK were 27 runs short, despite of the valiant knocks from Rachin Ravindra (61) and Ravindra Jadeja (42*). CSK scored 191, as Ruturaj Gaikwad & Co. bowed out of the competition, after finishing on the fifth place.

Was CSK's loss against RCB, MS Dhoni's last IPL match? Only time will tell.
