What will be the capacity of the new stadium?

The capacity of the stadium is ensured to be well over 1 lakh, making it one of the largest stadiums, not just in India but the world. The work to build the stadium will be carried out by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).

“The MCA is looking to build a massive 1 lakh capacity cricket stadium, spread across 50 acres of land in Amane, which is 26 kms off Thane and 68 kms from the Wankhede Stadium. The MCA has filled the open tender floated by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) to acquire the land parcel,” a source revealed to the Times of India.

The source also stated that the project is the dream of the former MCA president, Amol Kale. Kale passed away on June 10 in New York following India’s thrilling win against Pakistan a day prior. Kale was a close friend of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
