Babar Azam has been one of Pakistan's most-impactful players in the modern era. Not only is the 30-year-old the talisman of the batting unit, but is also the leader of the pack.

Despite being the captain, Azam has faced his share of criticism and outrage from the fans and the media. After the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 fiasco, questions were raised over his captaincy capabilities and skills.

As a result of the lacklustre performance in the 50-over World Cup , Babar Azam was sacked off his role as captain. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) were quick on their amends, and re-appointed Azam as the all-formats skipper. The Lahore-born batter will lead the side in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.

Former Pakistan head coach and team mentor, Matthew Hayden has had his say on Babar Azam leading his country, once again.
