The inaugural edition of the Madhya Pradesh League 2024 is taking place at the Gwalior International Cricket Stadium. The seventh match of the group stage was played on Wednesday.

Rewa Jaguars and Bhopal Leopards were placed on third and fifth position on the points table. A win was absolutely the need of the hour for the Leopards, and win, they did! After two losses first-up, Leopards secured their maiden win of MPL 2024, against Rewa Panthers, who suffered their maiden defeat of the campaign.

What happened in the match between Rewa Jaguars and Bhopal Leopards?

In the match on Wednesday, June 19, Himanshu Mantri's Rewa Jaguars locked horns against Arshad Khan's Bhopal Leopards. The Leopards emerged victorious by six wickets.

Batting first, the Rewa-based side were bundled for 141 on the penultimate delivery of the innings. Skipper Mantri smacked a much-needed half-century (52 off 34) to guide his side to a respectable total. Mihir Hirwani was the pick of the bowlers for Leopards, with his 3/18.

In response, the Leopards chased the 142-run target, scoring 147 in the 19th over of the run chase. Harsh Gawali scored a crucial run-a-ball 43, while Aniket Verma remained unbeaten for 34 from 22 balls. Kulwant Khejroliya bagged 1/20 in his four, but his valiant effort could not help his side escape the defeat.

What next in the Madhya Pradesh League 2024?

Jabalpur Lions will face Gwalior Cheetahs in the eighth match of MPL 2024. Cheetahs skipper Venkatesh Iyer would hope to lead his side to another win, after securing consecutive wins from the previous two matches.
