The ICC T20 World Cup win in 2007 steered a storm of T20 Cricket in the country. With the inauguration of the IPL in 2008, the storm only spread to wider masses. The franchise form of cricket has found its relevance with time. Almost two decades later in 2025, many states in the country have their very own franchise T20 leagues.

The Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), Maharashtra Premier League, Gujarat Premier League (GPL), are some of the widely-renowned intra-state franchise leagues. And another one in the offing, is the Madhya Pradesh League.

The Madhya Pradesh League will be organised by the Gwalior District Cricket Association (GDCA), under the advisory and financial backing of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA).
