New rumours and reports have become a daily routine, as things start shaping up for Team India in the Gautam Gambhir era. Being touted as the toughest job in cricket, Gambhir was appointed as the head coach of the Indian cricket team.

With each passing day, we hear new names come up for various back-room staff roles. After BCCI turned down Gautam Gambhir's plea for Jonty Rhodes to be the fielding coach, he suggested yet another Protean, this time for the bowling coach role.

Who will be India's next bowling coach?

As per Cricbuzz, Gautam Gambhir has put forward Morne Morkel's name as the next bowling coach of the Indian team. Earlier, as per reports, Gambhir saw BCCI reject his suggestion of R. Vinay Kumar for the same role.

Morkel and Gambhir worked together at the IPL franchise, Lucknow Super Giants. The former was the bowling coach at LSG, where the latter served as the team mentor for the 2022 and 2023 editions of the tournament.

The BCCI has been quite clear about its back-room staff appointments. The likelihood of Morkel landing the job is slim, with the board preferring an all-Indian coaching contingent.
